MAGNIFICENT MANCHESTER
Read Heather Fletcher's poem which reflects
upon what it means to be Mancunian...
MAGNIFICENT MANCHESTER
My hometown had a reputation for being industrial and not very
pretty
But it has now blossomed into a vibrant, multi-cultural
city.
People walk together happily when shopping in town
They are down- to-earth folk who wear a smile, not a frown.
My favourite place in the centre is definitely Albert Square
With a beautiful gothic Town Hall which houses the Lord
Mayor.
Other sights include Urbis and the adjacent Big Wheel
With expensive shops and pavement cafes, there's a continental
feel.
My city is known for its cloudiness and plentiful rain
But it is well designed with good transport links of Metro, Bus
and Train.
We have museums, art galleries, and the Opera House too
Our celebrities include Ricky Hatton and Oasis to name but a
few.
There is no more I can tell you about my hometown either useful
or witty
Except it is famous for football teams, United and my favourite
MANCHESTER City!
